Collaborations w/ Weird Studies, the School of Wise Innovation, and Turquoise Sound
Please excuse the delay in getting out the next episode with the amazing Robert Poynton! I try to stay โon scheduleโ but doing things well matters more. Consider it my commitment to quality for your sake. In the meantime, you can enjoy our first chat for Future Fossils 196 on improvisation as a way of life.
Here is everything I can share right now, and there will be much more soon โ including my first essay at Aeon Magazine, think-pieces on being โmore than a machineโ, Gaian metapolitics and the civilian astronaut controversy, and new works of short sci-fi on stech protocols that will radically change the way we collaborateโฆplus numerous new recordings in the queue and epic collaborations brewing with too many projects to name here. And my book goes on pre-sale in less than a month!
Thanks for hanging in there and be well.

๐ฎ My New Course, How To Live In The Future
@ Weirdosphere
Years ago I told my friends Phil Ford and J.F. Martel, hosts of the acclaimed podcast Weird Studies, that it was time to make good on all the talk about a REAL department of para-academic study into the unknown and unknowable. And then they did it.
Iโm finally stepping into โprofessorโ shoes this spring on their growing platform Weirdosphere โ a home for inspirations like the legendary Erik Davis and Matt Cardin โ and I could not be more hyped! Letโs get deepโฆlike, really, REALLY deep.
Over five weeks and ten sessions (five lecture/discussions and five focused salons), we will dive together into a TROVE of mind-expanding resources and change the way you think about and navigate not just the future, but the past and present.
About The Course
Futures discourse offers two major narratives: a better world is coming, or the end is near. ยฟPor quรฉ no los dos? After all, we're living through the folding-over, twisting, rupturing, and remix of every familiar dyad โ self and other, nature and technology, past and future, art and science, creation and discovery. In an age of artificial minds and Eldritch hyperobjects, it's easy to feel anxious but there is another way to surf the psychedelic experience wrought by the effects of exponential information technologies... a playful, curious embrace of our metamorphosis anchored in deep time, psychedelic futurism, and the zones where science meets contemplative tradition. It's time to hack the mythic frameworks that no longer seem to cut it and make art with them.
Inspired by the work of scholars like William Irwin Thompson, Timothy Morton, Erik Davis, Richard Doyle, and Federico Campagna โ and drawing on over twenty years of research into evolutionary dynamics, complex systems science, integral metatheory, and psychonautic high weirdness โ this course is a guided off-road romp through the bizarre and wonderful moirรฉs of biology, philosophy, and mysticism. Make new sense of our century's metamorphoses, and find stable features we can count on in the strange new worlds to comeโฆ

โHow do we navigate great technological change โ individually, organizationally, and collectively? โJoin leading and well-rounded thinkers on the subject for an interactive sensemaking conversation.โ
My friends at SWI opted to open this session from their Spring Cultivator program to the public, so everyoneโs invited! Iโd love to see you in there. Iโve known the venerable and incandescent Turquoise Sound for ages, but this is the first time she and I are jamming together on record โฆso it promises to release a ton of energy and provoke some amazing group discussion.
I can almost guarantee it will challenge the way youโre framing these issues.
Hope to see you there!

๐ The Book Club Is Back! Next Up: Prophetic Culture by Federico Campagna
"Something has ended. What comes next is still unclear. At a time when extrapolative futures designed for navigating more stable realities are proving inadequate, Prophetic Culture offers a possible angle of approach, through a new kind of worlding, for the hazy, futureless reality fast approaching from over the imaginative horizon."
Reminder that weโre doing our next book club call on Saturday, May 3rd @ 11 am MDT (GMT-6) and Iโm posting my extensive notes from the book in a members-only channel on the Future Fossils Discord server for pre-game discussion.
(DM me there if youโre a patron and need me to update your access to participate!)
Prophetic Culture is a beautiful, provocative work. I canโt wait to explore it together.
