🦕🌏 Jurassic Worlding Lectures & Meme Stash
Re: Biotech, Media, Capitalism, Collapse, and The 21st Century Self
“Poetry is the beginning and end of all scientific knowledge.”
— Friedrich Hölderlin
For my beloved patrons, here finally are the four longest, most-complete works of “mind-jazz” from my recent Jurassic Worlding course at Nura Learning, where I workshopped my next book-in-progress by pairing lectures and group discussions with live chat watch-alongs of the Jurassic Park & Jurassic World films, using the franchise as a lens through which to focus years of research and writing on science, culture, media, and psychedelic futurism.
(For more context on the course and on last summer’s Jurassic Park book club, check out earlier posts here, here, and here. )
Here are previews of the topics explored in four hour-long videos below the paywall fold, where they’re supplemented with a DEEP drive folder full of supplemental reading and listening, including referenced essays on metamodern monsters, the evolution of psychoactive fungi, AI and consciousness, and more…
Part 3: The Work of Art in The Age of Biocybernetic Reproduction
Part 4: Dinosaurs, Capitalism, Postmodernity
Part 5: The Fugitives of Fallen Kingdoms
Part 6: Scaling Brands & Diminishing Returns to Innovation Investment
The first two sessions focused more on text-only chat during the film screenings and for copyright reasons I’m not including those video recordings here, but you can find the saved Zoom call chats in the course materials folder when you sign up.
