Here’s my latest song, a kind of manifesto for more humble living at a time when we all have to face the damage wrought by serving endless economic growth. The allure of wealth and power is starting to wear thin for many of us and a post-apocalyptic tenderness and care is starting to shine through. Scaling as an end unto itself just leads us closer to disaster. Small is beautiful. You can consider this a kind of folk-pop cottage-core reflection on the great motifs that play out in the passage of our souls from one life to the next…or you can read it as a metaphor for the return to human-scale existence after the collapse of civilization. Take your pick.

Lyrics:

I think I used to be scaly
Breathing fire and burning countrysides daily
I remember being giant and scary
Golden, potent, gleaming, loud, and a terror
But the cost of all that tonnage is steep
Guarding horde but all I wanted was sleep
I could soar but they all thought me a creep
So I shed it all for smaller and sweet
Now I need more help but I feel complete

I recall when I had great cosmic power
